S&P Global Ratings has raised the outlook for Viper Energy from “stable” to “positive” and affirmed the issuer credit rating at BBB-; unsecured bonds also remain at BBB-. VNOM’s standalone credit profile is rated “bb” and was upgraded by two notches because of the close relationship with parent company Diamondback Energy (FANG). S&P points to rising production (from about 50,000 boe/d in 2024 to 132,500–135,000 boe/d in 2026), growing reserves from acquisitions, and a changed capital return strategy with a fixed base dividend and opportunistic buybacks.
