Fosun International reports 160% profit jump in first half of 2026

Net profit attributable to shareholders rose 160.3% to RMB 1.72 billion in the first half of 2026 on group revenue of RMB 86.96 billion (+3%). Core revenue grew 4.6% to RMB 63.88 billion, and operating profit in the industrial segment increased 17% to RMB 3.69 billion. Fosun bought US intelligence insurer Wright USA using state-backed loans

New data show Fosun's 2015 purchase of Wright USA, an insurer for FBI and CIA personnel, was financed in part by a $1.2bn loan from four Chinese state banks routed through the Cayman Islands. The deal prompted a CFIUS inquiry and the company was later sold back to American owners.
