Křetínský seeks majority takeover of Fnac Darty

Billionaire Daniel Křetínský has tabled an offer to increase his stake in Fnac Darty and aims to raise his holding from roughly 28 percent to above 50 percent through purchases of shares and convertible bonds. Daniel Kretinsky’s EP Group wants to pay about €1.1bn for Fnac Darty with a friendly offer of €36 per share, raising its stake from 28.5% to above 50%. The offer represents a 19% premium and was unanimously welcomed by the board; a squeeze-out is not planned. EP Group guarantees the company’s strategy, current management, headquarters in France and dividend policy; Ceconomy and GLAS are seen as likely supportive shareholders.
