On an alternative South Korean exchange (Nextrade), the SK Hynix share briefly fell by around 30% in pre-market trading after eleven shares were traded at a significantly lower price. Experts said the cause was the absence of an opening auction on Nextrade, so a small order volume triggered extreme price swings in an otherwise empty order book. In regular trading on the Korea Exchange the collapse did not occur, although the stock fell by about 10% there during the day; analysts point to broader weakness in the chip sector and profit-taking after last month's gains.
