Basilea partner Asahi Kasei starts phase II study of Cresemba in children in Japan

Asahi Kasei Therapeutics has begun a multicenter phase II study in Japan to investigate the safety and pharmacokinetics of the antifungal Cresemba (isavuconazole) in children at increased risk of serious fungal infections. Cresemba is already approved in Japan for adults and, in the US, Canada, Europe and China, also for children; a pediatric approval in Japan is still pending. Basilea raises 2026 guidance after strong first half

Basilea reports H1 2026 revenue up 14% to 119 million CHF and operating profit up 32% to 31.6 million CHF; net profit was 27.9 million CHF and net cash doubled to 105 million CHF. Drivers were strong Cresemba sales and higher licensing and other income; Cresemba product sales are around $782 million (+27% over 12 months). The company raised its full-year forecast and now expects about 15% revenue growth and roughly 40% growth in operating profit for 2026.
