Panasonic develops robotic design-for-disassembly to reduce appliance waste and inform modular building design
Panasonic is launching an autonomous disassembly program that combines AI, robotics and 3D CAD simulations to redesign appliances for easier repair, reuse and material recovery, aiming to cut electronic waste and extend product lifespans. The company retrains robots using disassembly simulations and adjusts product architecture, fasteners and materials to enable circularity even if it reduces new-unit sales. The approach is presented as transferable to construction, where design for disassembly and modularity—already driven by European standards—could lower demolition rates, support adaptive reuse and ease housing supply pressures. » More on forbes.com
