Mercedes-Benz has sold its European fast-charging network to the French operator Electra. Electra takes over 47 charging parks (including 31 in Germany and six in Austria) with a total of 374 charging points; the price was not disclosed. Mercedes cites the dynamic market development and a strategic realignment to deploy resources more selectively. From 1 November 2026, 47 Mercedes high‑power‑charging hubs with 374 charging points will be integrated into the Electra network, growing Electra’s German network from 50 to 81 charging parks. The contract of CFO Harald Wilhelm ends at the end of March and an extension is uncertain, while Mercedes is under heavy cost pressure and facing falling margins. The supervisory board is believed to favor three options: a one-year extension for Wilhelm, appointing legal director Olaf Schick as an interim solution, or promoting Christina Schenck.
