ABB buys 476,918 of its own shares in one week under buyback programme

Between 3 and 9 September 2026 ABB acquired a total of 476,918 of its own shares as part of the ongoing share buyback programme. The repurchases were carried out via a separate trading line on the SIX Swiss Exchange through a bank. ABB concludes cooperation agreement with Rolls‑Royce SMR on small modular reactors

ABB and Rolls‑Royce SMR are exploring a collaboration in which ABB’s automation and electrification solutions would be used in the construction of standardized, factory‑prefabricated small modular reactors (470 MW each). The aim is to manufacture the reactors uniformly and at larger scale; initial plans for three plants in north Wales are already under way, with further projects planned in the Czech Republic and Sweden. The IEA sees growth potential of around 40 GW by 2050 under current policy settings (up to 120 GW with stronger support).
