Advance Auto Parts raises full-year EPS view after Q2 margin gains despite DIY sales slump
Advance Auto Parts reported Q2 net sales of $2.0 billion with comparable sales down slightly as low-single-digit Pro growth was offset by a low-double-digit decline in DIY. Adjusted operating margin expanded to 5.6% and adjusted EPS rose to $1.03, helped by product-margin gains and $26 million in tariff refunds. Free cash flow improved to $120 million year to date and net-debt leverage fell to 2.1x. The company reaffirmed its 2026 sales, margin and FCF outlook and raised adjusted EPS guidance to $2.60–$3.30, while accelerating distribution-center consolidation and market-hub expansion to boost availability and reduce costs. » More on finance.yahoo.com
Advance Auto Parts shares fall sharply after disappointing earnings quality and cautious guidance
Advance Auto Parts shares dropped about 15.9% in pre-market trading after the company reported adjusted EPS of $1.03 for Q2, of which roughly $0.31 related to one-time customs refunds, leaving underlying operating EPS at about $0.72. Management merely reaffirmed the full-year 2026 guidance instead of raising it, and CEO Shane O’Kelly cited a volatile demand environment. Margin expansion slowed to roughly 250 basis points versus 410 basis points in the prior quarter, and Citi cut its price target from $60 to $57. The stock is further pressured by its previously high valuation (about 49 times trailing earnings) and concerns about tougher competition from a potential merger of O’Reilly Automotive and Genuine Parts. » More on de.investing.com

Moody's expects further improvement in credit metrics over the next 12 months and specifies thresholds for potential rating upgrades or downgrades.
