Astellas starts phase-3 study of ASP2138 in gastric cancer
Astellas treated the first patient in a randomized, double-blind phase‑3 study of ASP2138 in combination with chemotherapy and pembrolizumab in adult patients with locally advanced, inoperable or metastatic CLDN18.2‑positive, HER2‑negative gastric cancer or gastroesophageal junction adenocarcinoma. ASP2138 is a subcutaneously administered bispecific antibody that binds CLDN18.2 on tumor cells and CD3 on T cells to activate antitumor immune responses. The study (570 participants, multiple countries) is placebo-controlled and has overall survival and progression-free survival as its primary endpoints. Safety and efficacy have not yet been proven; the study supports Astellas' goal to start multiple phase‑3 or registration‑enabling studies by fiscal year 2027. » More on de.investing.com

Astellas Pharma stock falls after presentation of growth strategy CSP2026
Astellas Pharma’s stock fell 1.5% to close at 2,233.5 yen after the company unveiled its five‑year plan CSP2026. The plan includes more than 10 phase‑3 or approval‑relevant studies through fiscal 2030, cumulative core operating profit before R&D of over 4.3 trillion yen, and a doubling of sales from strategic brands. Investors reacted with a classic “sell‑the‑news” dynamic, amplified by concerns over sales declines for Xtandi due to patent expiries and a mid‑term consensus expecting annual declines in revenue and profit. Despite record sales of 2,139.2 billion yen for 2025, sentiment remains subdued given uncertain medium‑term prospects. » More on de.investing.com
