BASF places around 133 million Harbour shares and continues exit
BASF sold about 133 million Harbour shares in an accelerated bookbuild; Harbour Energy will buy back around 53 million of those shares and 80 million will go to institutional investors. The buyback can amount to up to $200 million and will, if applicable, be offset against Harbour’s ongoing buyback program; the repurchased shares are to be cancelled. After the deal BASF still holds roughly 25% of Harbour and thus continues its planned gradual exit from the financial stake; BASF had already sold a larger share in March. In the short term BASF also benefits from chemical supply bottlenecks caused by the blockade of the Strait of Hormuz, which supports its business situation. » More on deraktionaer.de
BASF sues Apple over alleged patent infringement in Face ID
Chemical company BASF filed a lawsuit against Apple in a U.S. district court in Texas, accusing the iPhone maker of infringing seven patents held by BASF subsidiary trinamiX for facial recognition technology. BASF is seeking an injunction and unspecified damages, saying the use of the technology in current iPhone and iPad models has caused significant and irreparable harm. trinamiX has been developing 3D and material-recognition solutions for about ten years and, according to the complaint, holds or has applied for more than 800 patents worldwide. Apple has not yet commented on the allegations. » More on deraktionaer.de
