  • Evonik to close sites in Hamburg and Bitterfeld and consolidate production

Specialty chemicals group Evonik will permanently close the plants in Hamburg and Bitterfeld next year and transfer the activities there to larger sites. Around 90 employees are affected in total (50 in Hamburg in the cosmetics care division, 40 in Bitterfeld in chlorosilane production). Company management justifies the move with overly fragmented structures and high costs; in the coming months, socially acceptable solutions are to be developed in coordination with employee representatives. » More on t-online.de

  • Evonik: JPMorgan confirms underweight and €14 target despite strong Q2 results

JPMorgan has maintained its “Underweight” rating on Evonik and stuck to a €14 price target, the lowest among analysts. This contrasts with operational progress: Q2 EBITDA rose 24% and the full-year forecast was raised. Analyst consensus is “Neutral” (avg. target €18.30) and the valuation shows a low P/B (~1) alongside a high P/E due to cyclically depressed EPS. Risks include dividend cuts and cyclical earnings levels, while investments in a GMP facility in Vancouver are seen as a growth catalyst; the next results on November 3 will be pivotal. » More on de.investing.com
