  • Bellway says Burnham’s Your First Home could lift annual completions by about 10%

Bellway expects Andy Burnham’s Your First Home scheme to boost volumes and could drive completions back toward 10,000 homes a year, CEO Jason Honeyman said. The builder is targeting 9,000–9,400 homes for the current year, with a forward order book of 4,981 homes worth £1.4bn and an average selling price expected to remain around £325,000. For the year to 31 August Bellway reported revenue of £3.16bn (up 13%) and underlying pre-tax profit of £305.7m (up 5.7%). Honeyman said the scheme could raise volumes by c.10% and support a return on equity of about 15%. » More on theguardian.com

Margins, however, came under pressure due to a higher proportion of lower‑margin large sales. Management warned of subdued customer demand because of persistently high mortgage rates and uncertainty around the UK budget, after which the stock came under light selling pressure. » More on de.investing.com
