BioAge Labs unveils strategy shift, to focus on retinal diseases

At the Cantor conference BioAge Labs announced it is shifting its strategy from cardiovascular indications toward retinal diseases and other peripheral applications after an external cardiovascular study design sent disappointing signals. Its lead program BGE-102, an oral NLRP3 inhibitor, showed strong brain penetration, significant biomarker reductions and a favorable safety profile, according to the company; the planned phase‑III study in ASCVD will be paused. BioAge is initiating a phase‑II trial in diabetic macular edema with BCVA as the target endpoint and expects efficacy data in the second half of 2025.
