  • Chemours reaches $455 million settlement in PFAS lawsuits and stock rises

    Chemours, together with DuPont de Nemours and Corteva, agreed to a $455 million settlement with North Carolina and eleven municipalities to resolve PFAS lawsuits. Chemours’ 50% share has a present value of about $180 million and is covered by existing reserves. In addition, a $50 million trust payment that would have been due in September 2026 is no longer required, and the company filed a Form 8-K with the SEC.     Chemours is launching the refrigerants Opteon ZE (R-1234ze(E)) and Opteon 515B (a blend of R-1234ze(E) and R-227ea), developed for stationary chillers in data centers and commercial buildings. Opteon ZE is an HFO with a GWP of about 1 and ASHRAE safety class A2L; Opteon 515B has a GWP of around 293 and safety class A1.
