Elkem beats EBITDA expectations despite price pressure on silicon
Elkem reported EBITDA of NOK 523 million for the second quarter, beating the analysts’ estimate of NOK 377 million but down 19% from the prior year. Operating income fell 4% to NOK 3.71 billion, mainly due to lower selling prices for silicon and ferrosilicon products. The company completed a NOK 1.8 billion capital increase, refinanced its bank loans and announced a cost‑reduction program targeting annual savings of more than NOK 600 million. For the third quarter, Elkem expects seasonally weaker activity in the Silicon Products segment, while Carbon Solutions is expected to remain largely stable. » More on de.investing.com

Elkem Q1 2026: strategic realignment despite 65% drop in EBITDA
Elkem reports Q1 2026 EBITDA of NOK 249m (-65%) on operating revenues of NOK 4,053m, hit by production curtailments and a weak market environment. The centerpiece of the realignment is the sale of the silicone division to Bluestar and the shift to a pure metals and materials company; CEO Helge Aasen is stepping down from day‑to‑day management and is to become chair of the new board. To strengthen the balance sheet Elkem plans a NOK 1.5bn rights issue, a repair offering and a guaranteed refinancing of EUR 1.0bn; leverage rose to 5.0x, pro forma would fall to 4.0x. The company is targeting cost savings of NOK 600m, stricter capital discipline and a reorganisation into three business units to be reported from Q3 2026. » More on de.investing.com
