Kosmos Energy hurt by Q2 crude weakness but Hotchkis & Wiley maintains investment thesis
Hotchkis & Wiley said Kosmos Energy declined in Q2 after broader crude oil weakness following the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz, which detracted from the Mid‑Cap Value Fund's performance. The fund still cites Kosmos Energy's offshore expertise, quality assets, attractive reinvestment economics, compelling valuation and reduced liquidity concerns, and says its investment thesis remains intact. Hedge fund ownership of Kosmos Energy rose in Q1, reflecting continued investor interest despite near‑term oil price pressure. » More on finance.yahoo.com
Kosmos Energy beats Q2 forecasts, stock falls despite better results
Kosmos Energy reported adjusted earnings of $0.11 per share and revenue of $617.04 million for Q2 2026, beating consensus expectations. Production rose 12% year-on-year, absolute operating costs fell by about 25%, and net debt was reduced by roughly 50% since the end of 2025; liquidity stood at over $500 million. Despite the strong metrics, the stock fell about 3.7% premarket as investors weighed risks from oil-price exposure, refinancing needs and operational problems (including Jubilee and Winterfell). Kosmos confirmed its production and LNG targets for 2026, expects further OpEx reductions and is targeting significant additional debt reduction by year-end and an RBL refinancing in Q4. » More on de.investing.com
Kosmos Energy sells Equatorial Guinea interests to Panoro Energy for $127m, may receive $40m more
Kosmos Energy completed the sale of its Ceiba Field and Okume Complex interests in Equatorial Guinea to Panoro Energy, receiving a final cash payment of about $127 million and potential contingent payments up to $40 million tied to future oil prices and production. Proceeds will be used to reduce debt under the company’s reserves-based lending facility and the divestment removes a $140 million asset retirement obligation from the balance sheet. Kosmos says the move exits higher-cost assets to focus capital on higher-value projects and will publish updated 2026 guidance with its Q2 results in August. » More on finance.yahoo.com
