Lerøy uses poultry feed for farmed salmon in offshore farms
Lerøy already uses poultry feed in all offshore salmon farms, Mowi plans to adopt it and Grieg is testing corresponding feed mixes. The EU and the UK have relaxed the ban on animal-based feeds as long as there is no cannibalism, removing a long-standing taboo in the industry. The switch is mainly aimed at cutting costs because fish-based feed has become more expensive, and is also being made against the backdrop of rising demand from China. » More on spiegel.de
Lerøy Seafood Group: Q2 operating EBIT falls 15.6%, shares dip
Lerøy Seafood Group reported Q2 2026 operating EBIT of NOK 574 million, a decline of 15.6% year‑on‑year, weighed down by lower harvest volumes of salmon and trout and margin pressure in the market business. Improvements in wild catch (volume +5.6%, higher prices) and cost reductions (NOK 402 million of NOK 1 billion already realized) only partly offset the decline. The company raised its full‑year EBIT guidance for wild catch to NOK 400–450 million but recorded an increase in net debt of NOK 8.4 billion. The stock fell 1.49% in early trading to $40.88. » More on de.investing.com
Leroy Seafood share falls after weaker operating profitability
Leroy Seafood reported operating EBIT of NOK 574 million for Q2 2026 versus NOK 680 million a year earlier, weighed down by lower harvest volumes and weaker margins in Market Operations. EBIT in Farming fell to NOK 236 million, driven by roughly 8% lower harvest volumes (44,747 GWT). Positively, the company raised its full-year guidance for operating EBIT in Wild Catch to NOK 400–450 million and reported declining farming costs since Q1 2026, but expects higher feed costs in 2027. Investors remained cautious, so the share came under pressure and is trading well below its 52-week high. » More on de.investing.com
