Magnolia Oil & Gas doubles quarterly profit and funds WildFire takeover with equity and debt
Magnolia Oil & Gas reported Q2 net income of $181.8 million, a 124% increase yearâoverâyear, driven by higher oil/NGL prices and production growth from Giddings. Adjusted EBITDAX rose to $370.3 million and free cash flow more than doubled to $234.6 million, allowing $80.1 million returned to shareholders via buybacks and a 9% dividend increase. On July 20 the company agreed to acquire WildFire Energy, financing the deal by issuing 53.3 million new shares (â$1.23 billion net) and $500 million of 6.625% senior notes due 2034. Management raised 2026 production growth guidance to 6% but flagged Q3 production to hold near Q2 levels and warned of pricing headwinds and higher interest expense, with results still heavily dependent on Giddings performance. » More on finance.yahoo.com
Diamond Hill says Magnolia Oil & Gas detracted after geopolitical risk premium faded
Diamond Hill Capital's Q2 2026 Small Cap Strategy letter notes Magnolia Oil & Gas saw shares decline as markets pared the war-related risk premium after an agreement to end the USâIran conflict and reopen the Strait of Hormuz. The firm said the reduced perceived risk of a meaningful supply disruption hurt US exploration and production companies and weighed on Magnolia's performance. Diamond Hill continues to focus the strategy on resilient, underfollowed companies tied to infrastructure, defense modernization and essential industries. » More on finance.yahoo.com
