A security vulnerability in Danfoss software led to a cyberattack that disabled refrigeration units in around 150 French Intermarché and Netto stores. Spar, Hofer and Rewe report having their own cybersecurity teams and ongoing protective measures; Spar also states it does not use Danfoss software and operates an alert system for equipment malfunctions. Since April, Spar has been operating ten electric refrigerated trucks from MAN and Mercedes with 600 kWh batteries and up to 400 kilometers of range. The e-vehicles are expected to save around 2,500 tonnes of CO2 over five years; an electric refrigerated truck incurs roughly €300,000 in additional costs, of which subsidies from the Ministry of Mobility covered about 80 percent. Spar plans to procure half of all new vehicles electrically in the future but sees bottlenecks in charging infrastructure and grid capacity (St. Pölten: 4.5 to 12.5 MW with a full switch). Spar is recalling the product SPAR Natur*pur by NENI organic hummus natural 125 g with best-before date up to and including 07.07.2026 due to possible salmonella contamination of the raw tahina. The affected items have been removed from sale and customers were asked not to consume the product. Affected packs can be returned to stores; other SPAR Natur*pur products and hummus brands are not affected. » More on kurier.at
