Tyson Foods cuts full-year outlook and focuses on brand growth
At the Barclays Global Consumer Conference, Tyson Foods lowered its full-year forecast, making roughly a $125 million correction in its beef business due to expected non-cash impairments. The company is streamlining its beef network, adjusting chicken and pork forecasts, and sees Prepared Foods as a profitable growth driver. Management and designated CEO Jeff Schomburger emphasize operational excellence, increased marketing and R&D spending, and capacity expansions to support branded and value-added products. Tyson remains financially solid and plans targeted investments, dividends and selective share buybacks while maintaining disciplined M&A scrutiny. » More on de.investing.com

Tyson Foods closes two beef plants, sells Washington facility amid historic cattle shortage
Tyson Foods is shutting beef plants in Utah and Iowa, selling a Washington facility and will lay off hundreds as U.S. cattle inventories hit a 75-year low. The company reported sharply lower beef volumes and operating losses, but economists say existing national processing capacity can absorb the shift so immediate consumer prices are unlikely to jump further. Rising beef demand and the prolonged cattle shortage have already driven prices higher, while sustained plant closures could reduce future processing capacity and complicate producers' expansion decisions. » More on theguardian.com
