UPM Kymmene share falls after mixed half-year results and weak outlook
UPM Kymmene reported adjusted EBITDA for Q2 just above consensus, supported by improved unit costs in the Communication Papers segment. The Fibres division missed the forecast by roughly 9% due to higher costs, weighing on growth prospects and sustainable profitability. In addition, previously announced temporary shutdowns of two Finnish pulp mills and earlier analyst downgrades dampened sentiment. The stock then fell about 6.7% and hit a daily low, approaching its 52-week low of €22.37. » More on de.investing.com
UPM-Kymmene under pressure after production stoppages
The UPM-Kymmene share fell about 2.6% to €24.10 after the company announced it will temporarily shut down the Kaukas pulp mill from Aug. 3 for around six weeks and is considering a possible temporary closure of the Pietarsaari plant in October. Analysts cut earnings estimates for European forestry companies due to the weak softwood pulp market and competition from eucalyptus, and Goldman Sachs has signaled caution for the sector. Finnish investors are shifting capital into technology and AI stocks, and the upcoming quarterly report on July 23 temporarily increases uncertainty. » More on de.investing.com
