  • Yancoal Australia: workforce at Premier mine votes to strike

The workforce at Yancoal Australia’s Premier coal mine voted by more than 90% in favor of industrial action to push for higher wages and greater security in benefits and future earnings. The Mining and Energy Union and the Australian Manufacturing Workers’ Union back the move; a start date for the strike has not been announced. Premier supplies power stations in Western Australia; the mine is scheduled to close by the end of the decade. Yancoal Australia has not yet commented; majority shareholder is Yankuang Energy. » More on de.investing.com

  • Yancoal reports record production and strong EBITDA growth in first half 2026

Yancoal achieved an attributable saleable coal production of 19.8 million tonnes in H1 2026 (a record), revenue up 13% to AUD 3.01 billion and operating EBITDA of AUD 767 million (+29%) with a margin of 24%. Operating cash costs remained at AUD 96/t despite higher diesel prices. The company closed June with AUD 2.1 billion in cash and no external debt. Non-operating charges (including the reversal of hedges and impairments) reduced reported profit sharply to AUD 17 million after tax. Yancoal cut its full-year capex guidance by AUD 150 million, expects production at the upper end of its annual guidance, and plans to acquire an 80% stake in the Kestrel mine, which is likely to use part of the cash reserves and lead to new borrowing. » More on de.investing.com

  • Record production drives Yancoal share to one-month high

In the second quarter Yancoal reported an attributable saleable record production of 10.8 million tonnes, up 20% from the previous quarter, and attributable sales of 11.6 million tonnes (+41%). The average realised coal price rose 9% quarter-on-quarter to A$160 per tonne, supporting the share gain; the stock reached A$5.89 (+3.7%). The company reaffirmed its full-year guidance of 36.5–40.5 million tonnes but now expects production in the upper half of the range and capital expenditure at the lower end of the projection. Yancoal expects cash operating costs to be in the upper half of the range but not at the top, as diesel-price pressure has eased. » More on de.investing.com
