Frontline reports record profit in Q2 2026 and shares rise premarket
Frontline posted a net profit of $659.2m in the second quarter of 2026 ($2.96 per share) on revenue of $753.27m, beating analyst expectations. Drivers were very high TCE rates, operational efficiency, lower costs and gains from vessel sales; VLCCs earned $152,700 per day. Frontline rises on hopes of Strait of Hormuz reopening
Frontline shares climbed about 3.6% to $38.47 in the afternoon as hopes for a US‑Iran framework agreement to reopen the Strait of Hormuz fueled demand for tanker assets. A draft envisages reopening the strait within 30 days, which would expand the addressable market for Frontline’s 80 tankers. CEO Lars Barstad expressed confidence, BTIG reaffirmed its buy rating, and the stock approached its 52‑week high while other tanker owners also gained.
