Fitch raises outlook for James Hardie after sale of European business
Fitch affirms James Hardie’s long-term issuer default rating at BBB and raises the outlook from negative to stable following the agreed sale of its European business Fermacell to Holcim for around €840m. The transaction implies an EBITDA multiple of 11.5 for FY2026 and is expected to close in H1 2027. Fitch expects net proceeds plus free cash flow to be used for debt repayment, which could reduce adjusted leverage to about 2.5x by end-FY2027; adjusted leverage was 3.9x at end-FY2026 (recently reduced to 3.2x). Fitch sees a path to higher EBITDA margins from assumed cost synergies, but views the loss of geographic diversification as negative. » More on de.investing.com
