TowneBank strengthens presence in Hampton Roads after completion of merger with Old Point Financial Corporation

TowneBank completed its merger with Old Point Financial Corporation on Sept. 1 and is integrating Old Point National Bank and its deposit business into its operations. Branches will continue to operate under their current name through February 2026, Old Point Wealth Management will become part of the TowneBank group, and Robert F. Shuford, Jr. was named senior executive vice president. It operates 14 branches in the Hampton Roads localities of Hampton, Newport News, Norfolk, Virginia Beach, Chesapeake, Williamsburg/James City County, York County, and Isle of Wight County; a loan production office in Richmond, Virginia; and a mortgage loan origination office in Charlotte, North Carolina. The company was founded in 1922 and is headquartered in Hampton, Virginia.
