Apple set to exceed 10% smartphone market share in India after strong iPhone 18 demand
Long queues at Apple stores across major Indian cities and higher demand for the iPhone 18 Pro series have pushed Apple’s India market share toward double digits for the first time, up from about 4% in 2022. Analysts say iPhone 18 Pro demand is roughly 20% higher than the iPhone 17 a year ago, helping Apple and Samsung gain share as several Chinese brands lose ground. Higher device prices and rising chip costs have prompted premiumization in India, while financing options and promotions have narrowed affordability gaps. Ofcom investigates Pornhub over ineffective age checks after switch to Apple verification
Ofcom has opened an investigation into Pornhub owner Aylo, saying the site’s new device-level age verification using Apple’s process may not be “highly effective” as required by the Online Safety Act. The regulator is concerned Aylo did not carry out sufficient due diligence and testing before implementing the system and found instances where children could access the site. A breach could lead to fines up to £18m or 10% of global revenue, and Ofcom emphasised service providers are responsible for ensuring robust age assurance. » More on theguardian.com
