Ashland brings Permexa sodium caprate to market for oral peptide and biologic drugs

Ashland has announced the commercial launch of Permexa sodium caprate, an intestinal permeation enhancer for oral peptide and biologic medicines as well as poorly permeable active ingredients. The excipient is intended to improve formulation consistency, powder flow, compressibility and tablet scalability while retaining permeation‑enhancing properties. Ashland considers sale after takeover interest

Shares of Ashland rose about 5.5% after reports said the specialty chemicals company is reviewing a possible sale. Ashland is working with Citigroup and Lazard and is in contact with both strategic and financial bidders, including Advent, Apollo, Carlyle and Standard Investments. Ashland appoints two independent directors and creates capital allocation committee

Ashland has appointed Peter Thomas and Allen Spizzo to the board of directors with immediate effect; both will stand for election in 2027. The board will be temporarily expanded to 11 members and later reduced back to 10. A newly formed capital allocation committee, chaired by Scott Tozier, will provide recommendations on capital allocation and strategic planning; CEO Guillermo Novo will participate as a non-voting member.
