Australian Vanadium cooperates with Alcoa on study of vanadium flow batteries

Australian Vanadium has signed a non-binding memorandum of understanding with Alcoa to examine the use of vanadium flow batteries at Alcoa’s bauxite refineries in Western Australia. The aim is a pre-feasibility study of technical and financial aspects for a storage system of 50–80 MW capacity and six to eight hours of storage duration, with an option to extend beyond eight hours.
