Castor Maritime forms joint venture and sells stake in M/V Magic Starlight

Castor Maritime has formed a joint venture with third-party investors introduced by von Fearnley Securities and contributed the Kamsarmax M/V Magic Starlight (built 2015) to the JV. In exchange Castor received a 30% equity interest and a cash payment of USD 18.75 million; the JV financed the purchase through partners' equity and a sustainability-linked, senior loan of USD 11.5 million, secured by a ship mortgage and guaranteed by Castor. Handover took place on 6 August 2026; Castor expects net proceeds of about USD 2.9 million in Q3 2026 before transaction-related costs. Castor Maritime has completed a sale-and-leaseback transaction for the vessel M/V Magic Thunder worth $14.6 million with a Japanese partner. In addition, Castor's subsidiary MPCC CSI LTD. has increased its stake in MPC Container Ships ASA to over 20%.
