Clearwater Paper launches Circa recycled cartonboard line in cooperation with Greenpaper
Clearwater Paper has introduced the Circa product line, a coated recycled cartonboard for folding cartons and carrier packaging, developed in collaboration with the Mexican manufacturer Greenpaper. The line includes Circa Carton and Circa Carrier, is made from 100% recycled fibers and is intended to complement the company’s existing bleached sulphate board offering. Clearwater Paper reports Q1 loss and strong margin pressure from falling carton prices
Clearwater Paper reported a net loss of $12.8 million for Q1 2026 on revenues of $360.3 million, driven by a 7% decline in average prices despite a 5% rise in shipments. Adjusted EBITDA fell to $1.9 million (0.5% margin) due to significant pricing pressure and weather-related headwinds, while cost cuts and inventory reductions supported the balance sheet. Clearwater Paper cuts workforce at Cypress Bend by 20%
Clearwater Paper announced a restructuring of its Cypress Bend, Arkansas plant and will scale production back to about half capacity. Around 20% of salaried and hourly positions are to be eliminated; the company expects annual cost savings of $8–12 million while delivery volumes remain unchanged. CEO Arsen Kitch cites supply-side industry pressure on margins and cash flow.
