Lawmakers demand action after 7-Eleven fails numerous price-accuracy inspections
Congress members urged investigations into 7-Eleven’s pricing after an investigation found the chain failed at least 40% of price inspections in multiple states and frequently charged customers more at checkout than posted prices. Representatives called on the FTC and local regulators to hold the company accountable and push for stronger enforcement and penalties to prevent ongoing overcharging. 7-Eleven said it takes pricing accuracy seriously but provided no detailed response to the inspection findings. » More on theguardian.com
7-Eleven sues Nike over Air Max 95 color scheme
7-Eleven filed a trademark infringement complaint in federal court in Dallas alleging Nike's upcoming Air Max 95 uses a color scheme that mimics the retailer's signature red, orange and green stripes. The complaint says the July 11 release — coinciding with the chain's annual '7-Eleven Day' — could mislead consumers into believing the shoes are affiliated with or endorsed by 7-Eleven and describes the design as a confusingly similar imitation of its trade dress. 7-Eleven alleges Nike acted with "callous and malicious disregard" for its trademark rights; Nike has not responded publicly. » More on finance.yahoo.com
7-Eleven to close 645 U.S. stores in fiscal 2026
7-Eleven plans to shutter 645 stores across the U.S. in fiscal 2026, with some locations converted to wholesale fuel stores even as the chain expects to open 205 new outlets. The closures will outnumber openings in North America and follow recent cuts of underperforming sites amid slowing sales, reduced foot traffic and inflationary pressure. Parent Seven & i forecasts a 9.4% revenue decline for the fiscal year and is pursuing a transformation plan focused on fresh food, delivery expansion and other growth initiatives. » More on cbsnews.com
