EDP criticizes member states for failing to implement approval reforms for renewables
EDP CEO Miguel Stilwell d’Andrade says many EU countries have not implemented the post-2022 simplifications for renewable project approval processes, significantly delaying projects. Countries such as Portugal, Poland and Italy have not fully introduced the reforms, causing environmental permits to take years instead of the usual 12–18 months. EDP plans roughly €12bn of investment between 2026 and 2028, including €3.6bn in power grids, with a focus on expanding renewable capacity and strong activity in the USA. » More on de.investing.com
EDP: first quarter 2026 — EPS beats, revenue well below expectations
EDP reported Q1 2026 earnings per share of $0.09 (expected $0.07), while revenue of $5.39 billion fell well short of the $6.61 billion expected. Adjusted EBITDA declined 3% to €1.4 billion and net income fell 9% to €399 million. The power grid segment grew 9% and management raised the 2026 guidance (adjusted EBITDA €5.2 billion, net income €1.3 billion). The stock rose 2.21% in after-hours trading, but investor reactions remain mixed given the revenue shortfall and higher financing costs. » More on de.investing.com
EDP raises annual guidance despite declining recurring EBITDA in Q1 2026
EDP reported recurring EBITDA of €1.4bn in Q1 2026 (-3% YoY), but raised its full-year guidance by 5% to €5.2bn and expects recurring net income of around €1.3bn. Drivers include a strong networks business with higher RoRAB values in Portugal and Spain and growth of EDPR in the US; the generation and trading segment on the Iberian Peninsula suffered from sharply lower market prices and higher system service costs. Net debt rose slightly to €15.7bn, but the capital structure remains in the investment‑grade range, and management highlights robust regulatory visibility and long‑term demand growth, especially for networks and data‑centre projects. » More on de.investing.com
