Royal Cup acquires Farmer Brothers after shareholder approval
Royal Cup has completed the acquisition of Farmer Brothers; the cash transaction was approved at a special shareholders meeting and trading in Farmer Brothers common shares on NASDAQ has been suspended. Farmer Brothers had suffered significant financial problems and high debt, and the stock had recently fallen sharply. The combined company will operate as Royal Cup, based in Birmingham, Alabama; Chip Wann will be CEO, and several Farmer Brothers executives will resign.
