Freenet puts Waipu.tv IPO on hold for now

Freenet, according to industry sources, has for the time being shelved plans for an IPO of its streaming unit Waipu.tv and is pursuing other options. The group controls around 75% of the shares and is trying to secure the remaining stock after minority shareholders had considered exiting. Waipu.tv has almost two million paying subscribers, is driving growth and recently raised its operating profit significantly; previously banks and a possible valuation of up to 1.5 billion euros had been examined. » More on n-tv.de

According to Bloomberg, freenet is close to an agreement to buy the minority shareholders' stakes in Waipu.tv after plans for an IPO were dropped. freenet boosts revenue thanks to Mobilezone integration, confirms forecasts for 2026 and 2028

In the first half-year, freenet’s revenue rose by almost a quarter to €1.51 billion, driven by the inclusion of Mobilezone Germany and higher mobile service revenues. Adjusted EBITDA fell 5.9% to €242.2 million, weighed down by a negative effect from an agreement with a network operator. Adjusted free cash inflow slipped slightly to €155.2 million but beat expectations; group profit stood at €93.9 million.
