Jacobs: supermarkets cut prices for branded coffee
After initial price cuts on private-label brands, major retailers are now also regularly lowering prices for branded coffee such as Jacobs, Lavazza and others. Lidl, Kaufland and Aldi have already announced or implemented concrete price reductions; examples include Jacobs Krönung (500 g) and Lavazza (1 kg). Retailers justify earlier markups with poor harvests, especially in Brazil, which is why the price level still remains significantly above that of 2020. Some discounters, like Norma, however, have announced no further price cuts. » More on n-tv.de
Peet's Coffee to close multiple Southern California locations amid wider store reductions
At least two Peet's Coffee shops in Redondo Beach and Manhattan Beach have reportedly closed, and several Bay Area locations shuttered in January as the chain aligns operations with long-term growth priorities. The closures appear in the company store locator and employees confirmed the Southern California shutdowns, while Peet’s did not immediately comment. The shake-up coincides with Keurig Dr. Pepper's ongoing plan to acquire JDE Peet's and later split into two public companies, which the buyer says would create a global coffee leader and a North American refreshment business. » More on yahoo.com
KDP secures $7 billion financing for takeover of JDE Peet’s
Keurig Dr Pepper (KDP) has received a strategic investment commitment of $7 billion, led by Apollo and KKR, to finance the takeover of JDE Peet’s and the subsequent planned split into two standalone companies. The package includes $4 billion for a production joint venture for K‑Cup pods, in which KDP will retain the controlling majority, and $3 billion in convertible preferred shares. KDP expects the transaction to boost adjusted earnings per share by about 10% in the first full year and to materially reduce net leverage upon completion; closing is targeted for H1 2026. » More on de.investing.com
