Manulife beats Q2 profit forecasts, shares edge up
Manulife reported adjusted EPS of $1.09 for Q2 2026 versus $0.79 expected, on revenue of $2.22 billion; net income was CAD 2.1 billion. Growth drivers were Asia and Global Wealth and Asset Management, supported by share buybacks, and the LICAT ratio stood at 136% with CAD 26 billion of excess capital. The company announced a CAD 3.2 billion reinsurance agreement for long-term care with Munich Re and reaffirmed mid‑term targets such as a core ROE >18% and an expense ratio below 45%. Manulife places S$500m subordinated bond in Singapore
Manulife has issued a S$500 million subordinated bond in Singapore. The bond pays a fixed coupon of 2.880% until 4 June 2031 and thereafter pays 0.931% above the five‑year SORA OIS until final maturity on 4 June 2036. The notes qualify as Tier‑2 capital, are first callable on 4 June 2031 subject to approval by the Canadian Superintendent, and are expected to settle and be listed in Singapore on 4 June 2026. Manulife restructures leadership team and appoints Patrick Graham as president & CEO Canada
Manulife will implement a series of leadership changes effective July 1, 2026: Patrick Graham will become president & CEO of Manulife Canada and join the corporate leadership team. Wilton Kee is slated to succeed Graham in Hong Kong & Macau, subject to regulatory approval. Jodie Wallis will take on expanded responsibility for AI and enterprise data and will report directly to Phil Witherington; Shamus Weiland will become chief technology & operations officer; and Stephanie Fadous will additionally take on asset management and reinsurance.
