  • Octopus Energy offers customers free electricity as incentive to shift demand during solar eclipse

Octopus Energy is asking its eight million customers in the UK not to use appliances like washing machines and ovens between 6 and 8 p.m. local time and will reward participating households next Sunday with one hour of free electricity. The solar eclipse will significantly reduce solar power generation in parts of Europe; ENTSO-E expects a drop of up to almost ten gigawatts between 19:15 and 21:30, which can push short-term power prices above €400/MWh. Grid operators planned reserve power plants and postponed maintenance, while Germany cannot offer a comparable incentive program because of low smart meter penetration. » More on n-tv.de

  • Octopus Renewables: abolition of the UK CO2 tax likely to have little impact on NAV

Octopus Renewables expects that the abolition of the Carbon Price Support from April 2028 will reduce net asset value by less than 0.5 pence per share. The measure is likely to initially lower electricity revenues from UK sites by around £2–3/MWh, with a diminishing effect over time. The company attributes this to valuation assumptions already factored in, a high share of fixed revenues and a geographically diversified portfolio. Announced energy policy changes such as a higher Electricity Generator Levy and voluntary fixed-price contracts could present both risks and opportunities for additional long-term revenues; the investment manager is monitoring developments. » More on de.investing.com

  • Octopus Renewables reports steady dividend despite sharp NAV decline

Octopus Renewables saw NAV fall from £570m to £495m in the second half of 2025, but maintained a dividend yield of 10.1%. The company generated £108m of cash flow from portfolio assets and has realized sales totaling £235m since 2023. For 2026 the dividend target was raised 1% to 6.23 pence; the share price rose 0.52% after the results. ORIT is focusing on asset recycling and debt management and aims to resume NAV growth from 2027. » More on de.investing.com
