Rio Tinto issues 114 new shares for employee share plan
Rio Tinto issued 114 ordinary shares with a nominal value of 10 pence each in June to satisfy allocations under the Global Employee Share Plan. The shares have been admitted to trading on the Main Market of the London Stock Exchange and rank equally with the existing ordinary shares. Germany to provide up to €4.9 million for Rio Tinto lithium project in Serbia
The federal government pledged in 2025 to support Rio Tinto with up to €4.9 million for the planned lithium project in the Jadar Valley. The funds were to be used, among other things, for an image campaign, capacity building in Serbian ministries and support in contract negotiations with the Serbian government. There have been widespread protests in Serbia for years against the project over environmental and corruption concerns. Rio Tinto bets on lithium expansion, targets up to 200,000 tonnes annual capacity by 2028
