SCOR reaches 52-week high after solid Q2 results
The SCOR share rose on Euronext Paris by around 3.3% and reached a 52-week high after the publication of Q2 results. SCOR reported a net profit of €171m in the second quarter and €397m in the first half. The loss-and-expense ratio in the P&C segment remained stable for the second consecutive quarter at 79.5%, underscoring operational discipline. Scor exceeds expectations thanks to strong P&C business
Scor reported better-than-expected profitability for the first quarter: the underwriting result in the P&C business was 8.5% above estimates, and net profit exceeded forecasts by 14.2%. The loss-cost ratio improved to 79.5% (‑1.8 percentage points); catastrophe losses were 1.5 percentage points lower, and the contractual service margin in P&C new business surpassed estimates by 13.5%. Prices in new business fell by 2.4% but remained above the cost of capital; reinsurance costs declined. Alternative business grew strongly (+71.7%) with a slightly weaker technical margin.
