Var Energi will acquire BlueNord for about $1.33 billion, increases the dividend for Q2 to $350 million and plans a further $350 million for Q3 for shareholders of the merged company. Vår Energi reported an oil discovery in the Goliat North well (7122/7-8) in the Barents Sea, with gross recoverable resources estimated at up to five million barrels of oil equivalent. The well, drilled by COSL Prospector in licence 229 (Vår Energi 65%, Equinor 35%), encountered hydrocarbons in the Realgrunnen and Kobbe formations and logged multiple oil and gas/oil columns. No formation testing was performed but extensive sampling and data acquisition were completed; the well has been plugged and abandoned.
