Fitch downgrades SEMAPA after France cut from AA- to A+

Fitch has downgraded SEMAPA’s long-term issuer default ratings for foreign and local currency from AA- to A+, while the short-term foreign-currency rating remains at F1+ and the outlook is stable. The downgrade follows a downward revision of the internal credit assessment for the City of Paris, the main shareholder, and reflects that Paris guarantees more than 75% of SEMAPA’s obligations. Fitch classifies SEMAPA as a government-related company with a very high likelihood of extraordinary support; further rating changes will depend on the Paris rating or a permanent drop in the guaranteed share below 75%. » More on de.investing.com
