Standard Life agrees £2bn deal to buy Aegon UK, creating larger pensions group

Standard Life will acquire Aegon UK for £2bn, paying £750m in cash and issuing 181.1 million new shares to Aegon. The transaction combines Aegon UK’s 3.7 million customers with Standard Life’s operations to form a pensions and savings group with 16 million customers and £480bn of assets under administration. Aegon will become Standard Life’s largest shareholder with a 15.3% stake as it refocuses on the US and rebrands as Transamerica. » More on theguardian.com
