ZIM stock falls despite beating quarterly numbers due to challenging outlook and takeover risks

ZIM faces takeover block by Israel – shares under pressure
The Israeli government apparently plans to block the proposed sale of ZIM to Hapag-Lloyd and FIMI; a meeting to review the transaction was postponed to September 9. The shipping and ports authority recommends rejecting the deal on national security grounds and sees risks to maritime supply chains and emergency self-sufficiency. ZIM’s shares fell about 2.6% in premarket trading after a report suggested Israel could reject the planned sale of the shipping company to Hapag-Lloyd and investment fund FIMI.
