  • VMware doesn't experience a mass exodus; 86% of companies are reducing its use

A CloudBolt survey (January 2026, 302 North American IT decision-makers) shows only 4% have fully replaced their VMware infrastructure, while 86% are actively reducing its use. Broadcom's shift to subscription, core‑metered licensing has led to significant price increases; most report hikes of 25–49%, with some cases well above that. Migrations typically take 18–24 months and are slowed by complexity, cost and technical constraints; many are moving to public‑cloud IaaS or alternatives such as Nutanix AHV, Proxmox or KVM. Eighty‑five percent expect further price increases, and analysts foresee a decline in VMware's market share by 2029, while diversification has improved the risk profile of many companies. » More on heise.de

Broadcom announced license changes for hyperscalers, new VCF features including S3-compatible object storage, partnerships (including with Canonical) and expanded AI support with Nvidia and AMD. Sentiment among long-standing partners and customers remains mixed, and the trade-show presence of many former supporters was noticeably smaller. » More on heise.de

Nutanix reported Q4 2025 EPS of $0.37 on revenue of $653 million, beating expectations; the stock rose in after-hours trading. The company added 2,700 new customers, reported ARR of $2.223 billion and free cash flow of $750 million. For 2026 it forecasts revenue of $2.90–2.94 billion and a non-GAAP EBIT margin of 21–22%.
