X-Energy receives additional DOE funding of up to $1 billion despite quarterly loss
X-Energy reported a second-quarter loss of $0.15 per share on revenue including grants of $54.6 million, driven by engineering services in the ARDP. The U.S. Department of Energy increased ARDP funding for X-Energy by up to $1 billion, bringing the government cost share to as much as $2.115 billion. The company held $1.9 billion in cash and assets at the end of the quarter, was debt-free, and secured binding HALEU supply contracts with Centrus and General Atomics. X-energy invests $8m to double graphite capacity for Xe-100
X-energy has agreed to invest up to $8 million in milestone-based payments with SGL Carbon to double production of NBG-18 graphite at the Chedde, France site. The expansion is intended to enable manufacture of graphite blocks for up to eight additional Xe-100 reactors per year and to double European NBG-18 capacity by 2030; SGL is also expanding U.S. machining capacity. X-energy joins $60-million AI research project with NVIDIA and Amazon as founding member
X-energy is participating as a tier‑1 partner in the three‑year Prometheus project to apply artificial intelligence to the development of advanced nuclear reactors, funded with $60 million from the Department of Energy’s Genesis program. The initiative brings together 32 research institutions, labs and technology developers; X-energy is providing its Xe‑100 reactor designs and TRISO‑X fuel platform, will hold a board seat and is contributing $10 million in private capital. The aim is to accelerate schedules and reduce costs in reactor design, licensing, manufacturing, construction, operations and fuel production using test reactors and supercomputing resources. X-energy plans to integrate findings into its commercial projects and is advancing projects with partners totaling over 11 GW of nuclear capacity; together with Amazon there is an option for more than 5 GW by 2039. » More on de.investing.com
