Chow Tai Fook Enterprises, controlled by the Cheng family, has agreed to sell Australian power company Alinta Energy to Sembcorp Industries for A$6.5 billion (US$4.3 billion). The all‑shares deal, subject to regulatory approval, is expected to close in the first half of 2026. Alinta operates 3.4 GW of generation and is developing a further 10.4 GW; Sembcorp says the acquisition supports its target of 25 GW of renewables by 2028.
