Rakuten stock falls after Q2 despite record revenue – no dividend
Rakuten stock dropped 9.2% to ¥784.8 after the company reported consolidated Q2 revenue of ¥665.5 billion (+11.6% y/y) and a net profit attributable to shareholders of ¥7.7 billion. For the first time in eight years Rakuten posted a quarterly profit before tax and its first quarterly net profit in six years, but investors were disappointed because the dividend was left at zero despite the return to profitability. The company cites weak equity ratios and a high leverage ratio of well over five, which limits financial flexibility. Competitive pressure in the FinTech and Mobile segments and unclear net margins dampen the recovery outlook. » Más en de.investing.com
Rakuten posts first profit in six years in Q2 2026 despite share price drop
Rakuten reported record revenue of JPY 665.5 billion in Q2 2026 and a net profit of JPY 227.2 billion, its first positive quarterly result since Q2 2020. Consolidated EBITDA was JPY 150.3 billion, driven by growth in the mobile, FinTech and internet services segments and initial effects from AI deployments. The stock fell 2.54% after the release as investors questioned the sustainability of the profit amid one-off and tax effects and the high investment needs for network expansion. Management announced medium-term synergies, further expansion of AI services and large 5G investments, while also planning to reduce debt and use cash flow for self-financing. » Más en de.investing.com
