Tomra benefits from strong Q2 results and new recycling rules

Tomra reported strong second-quarter results and is benefiting from an improved situation in the recycling sector. Political measures such as the national implementation of the EU Packaging Regulation with significantly higher recycling targets (75% from 2028, 80% from 2030) and a government action program for the circular economy are likely to give the industry additional momentum. Strong Q2 numbers send Tomra stock sharply higher

Tomra reported Q2 2026 revenue up 25% to €405m and adjusted EBITA of €57m (+30%), both metrics beating expectations. The Collection division, with strong growth, was the main driver; adjusted earnings per share rose to €0.10. However, gross margin fell from 44.3% to 41.3% due to a less favorable product mix. Tomra receives letter of intent to deliver around 2,700 reverse vending machines to UK retail chain

Tomra has signed a letter of intent to deliver about 2,700 reverse vending machines to a leading international retail chain in the United Kingdom. The machines are expected to be largely the British variant of the S2 model, with deliveries scheduled for next year. The UK plans to introduce a deposit return scheme on 1 October 2027 in England, Scotland and Northern Ireland to raise collection and recycling rates.
