The newly flown A350F completed a four-hour maiden flight in Toulouse and begins tests expected to last nine months. The model, developed specifically as a freighter and based on the A350-1000, is about 46 tonnes lighter than a Boeing alternative thanks to carbon fiber and can carry up to 111 tonnes of cargo. The A350F, whose deliveries are due to begin in the second half of next year after delays, is aimed at Boeing’s dominant freighters; Airbus has already received more than a hundred orders, including from Atlas Air and Air China. Bundeswehr is considering acquiring 16 tactically equipped A400Ms; Airbus says it is holding “very good” talks with the Ministry of Defense. The order is estimated at around €3.6 billion and is to be delivered between 2029 and 2032.
